Diagnosis
Conifer seed cones constructed of eustelic axis and helically arranged bract/scale complexes comprising mostly bract tissue. Thickened complexes narrower at base, broadening laterally, tapering abruptly to pointed tip. Three inverted seeds attached to adaxial surface of complex immediately proximal to three free scale tips. Axis with complete cylinder of wood; single crescent-shaped trace diverging into bract/scale complex, distally broadening laterally and dividing horizontally, extending to near tip of bract; single terete bundle diverging toward base of each seed; scale tips unvascularized. One large resin canal originating in cortex of axis immediately below complex, and extending to bract tip abaxial to vascular bundle; three or more smaller adaxial resin canals in region of seed attachment.
