Thallus grossly cylindrical, undivided, massive. Medulla about 700 ~tm in diameter. MeduUar tubes numerous (around fifty), continuous, with rare dichotomy and slight pinchings and swellings; their diameter ranges from 40-50 ~rn. Dichotomous lateral tubes diverge intiaUy at 45-60 ° from the mother tube, but are then curved but remain distally oblique to the surface. They are about 30 Ixm thick and form a cortical zone that reaches 200 lam final division of thin, irregular tubes (diameter 15 ~tm) that form an irregular epiderm.
