- Diagnosis
- Cells undifferentiated into veins and mesh areas, polygonal to variously shaped, irregularly arranged, 5.0-12 ym x 4-10 um in size; anticlinal walls of the cells straight to slightly wavy, 1 um wide, surface walls striated; stomata oval to circular, cyclocytic, superficial, 10-16 x 10-12 um in size, irregular in distibution and orientation, stomatal apparatus hyaline as compared to other epidermal cells, guard cells kidney shaped, 10-16 x 4 um in size, stomatal slit biconvex, open, 8-16 x 2-4 um in size, subsidiary cells apparently narrower and darker (cutinised) than the other epidermal cells and forming
a ring around stomata, stomatal index varying from 11.1 to 12.5.
