- Spherical microfossil, ≤70 μm in diameter, with two-layered investment composed of septate hyphae that enclose a central cavity; cavity bounded by delicate non-hyphal layer; investment >10 μm thick, inner layer representing one- to two-storied system of interlaced, irregularly swollen hyphae, outer layer constructed of narrow tubular, sinuous, or irregularly constricted to catenulate hyphal branches extending from periphery of inner layer; majority of hyphal branches comprising outer layer radially or near-radially arranged, usually ending blindly in periphery of investment, but sometimes also recurved and re-entering inner layer.
