- Diagnosis
 
- Leaves 2—4 mm wide, with eight to ten veins per maximum leaf width of 4 mm. Leaves
hypostomatic. Stomata on the lower epidermis assembled in bands. Anticlinal cell walls straight, periclinal
ones smooth on the upper epidermis and in the interstomatal bands of the lower epidermis; ordinary cells
of the stomatal bands sometimes with a wart or papilla. Subsidiary cells often more cutinized than ordinary
cells. Aperture walls of the subsidiary cells thickened forming a cuticular rim around the stomatal pit.
Subsidiary cells sometimes exhibiting a small proximal papilla.
