- Diagnosis
 
- Cells with granular to coarsely granular surface texture. Small inner bodies occasionally present. Outer spheroid irregular in shape, varies from elliptical to spheroidal. Necking occurs in some specimens as if a budding process was possible. Some specimens have a lid-like aperture (similar to the operculum of many dinoflagellate and acritarch species). The cells are solitary and not associated with an organic matrix.
