- Diagnosis
 
- Diffuse porous wood. Pores mostly solitary, evenly scattered throughout the
wood, exhibiting a high density of 200-590 pores per square ram. Perforation plate scalariform bearing ca. 14-60 cross bars. Intervessel pits circular to scalariform. Tyloses abundant. Wood parenchyma apotracheal and diffuse. Rays heterogeneous, type I or type II A of Kribs, generally bi- and triseriate with high uniseriate margins. Fused rays often present. Ray-vessel pits circular to elliptical.
