Diagnosis
Wood diffuse porous. Pores 490-650 per square mm, mostly solitary or 2-3 in multiples arranged in radial series. Intervessel pits scalariform or oppositely arranged elliptical. Perforation plate scalariform. Tyloses abundant. Wood parenchyma apotracheal diffuse. Rays heterogeneous, type II A of Kribs, mostly bi- to quadriseriate, rarely uniseriate. Multiseriate rays with marginal cells and sometimes with uniseriate margins, 3-4 cells high. Ray-vessel pits scalariform or oppositely arranged elliptical.
