- Wood diffuse-porous. Vessels sparse; exclusively solitary ; small to medium in diameter; perforation plates exclusively scalariform; vessel-ray pits alternate to opposite, oval to elliptical, horizontally elongated. Imperforate tracheary elements fiber-tracheids with distinctly bordered pits. Axial parenchyma diffuse and scanty paratracheal. Rays of two distinct sizes, mostly narrow and sometimes conspicuously large; nearly homocellular composed of procumbent cells.
