- Wood diffuse porous. Vessels solitary and in radial multiples. Vessel elements with opposite to alternate intervessel pits and simple and scalariform perforations. Vessel-ray pits with reduced borders. Parenchyma absent. Fibres septate. Rays 1–3 seriate, heterocellular, uniseriate composed mainly of square or upright cells; multiseriate rays composed of procumbent cells with uniseriate margins of 2–4 (or more) upright or square cells. Pith pentagonal in cross section with dimorphic parenchyma cells.
