Diagnosis
Growth ring boundaries indistinct or distinct, wood semi-ring- to diffuse-porous, 5 – 20 cells per mm2, vessel diameters 100 – 200 μm, perforation plates simple, helical thickenings common in vessel elements, axial parenchyma diffuse, commonly in tangential bands up to three cells wide, and scanty paratracheal. Rays 1– 3-seriate, up to 29 cells in height, body ray cells procumbent with 1– 4 rows of square or wider marginal cells; prismatic crystals in chambered axial parenchyma cells common.
