Diagnosis
Vegetative stem covered by sheath-like overlapping leaves; lower 1/3 of leaves fused, the distal 2/3 portion separated; internode short, node shrunk inward, with thin ridges and furrows pass through the nodes without alternating only occasionally the ridges alternate from node to node. Reproductive stem bearing overlapping bracts, internode short, also with thin ridges and furrows. Sporangiophore curved inward, bearing many sporangia to form a reproductive zone on the node, details not observed. Internode of rhizome and furrows of surface distinct.
