- Diagnosis
- Ovule-bearing organ with a peduncle and a distal cluster
of up to six ovules. Ovules orthotropous, each with a cup-shaped collar at the base. Five developed ovules are directly attached to the peduncle.
Aborted ovule is terminated in a short pedicel. Seeds five, elliptic, with
dimensions of 7–10 mm × 6–9 mm. Outer surface of the integument
with a thick stomatiferous cuticle. Cells mostly isodiametric square to
polygonal. Stomata monocyclic and sparse. Subsidiary cells 5–7, without
papillae. Guard cells slightly sunken. Cuticle of nucellus thin. Cells
of nucellus rectangular, usually with rounded corners. Peduncle cuticle
amphistomatic.
