Diagnosis
Leaves 1—4 mm wide, amphistomatic. Stomata on the upper and lower epidermis arranged in rows. Anticlinal cell walls straight, periclinal walls with round wart or cuticular ridge; occasionally ordinary cells in the stomatal rows bearing papillae. Subsidiary cells more cutinized than ordinary cells. Aperture walls of the subsidiary cells often thickened forming a cuticular rim around the stomatal pit. Most subsidiary cells additionally having a proximal papilla.
