- Leaves elliptical to widely elliptical, base wedge-shaped, apex acute, sometimes attenuate. Leaf margin serrate, teeth thinly pointed, directed up, smaller and somewhat pressed alternate with larger ones and sharply separated from the leaf plate. Secondary veins thin, slightly curved or almost straight, form an open angle with the midvein; they branch near the edge; one of the branches connects with each other, forming fairly regular festoons along the edge; other veinlets, branched, reweave in a smaller network, the smallest veinlets end in the teeth.
