- Diagnosis
- Wood diffuse-porous. Growth rings boundaries distinct. Vessels solitary or in radial multiples of 2-4, rarely more or grouped. Vessel tangential diameter usually larger than 80 mm and ca. 60-90 vessels per mm2. Perforation plates simple. Intervessel pits alternate. Tyloses common. Vessel-ray parenchyma pits circular to transitional. Axial parenchyma absent. Fibres septate and non-septate. Rays 1-4 cells wide, heterocellular, with mostly one or two rows of marginal upright cells.
