- Distichous flat shoots, about 6—10 cm long, bearing mostly oppositely, or sometimes alternately, arranged leaves. Leaves linear-oblong with blunt apices, round bases and short distinct petioles, and with twisted traces of the leaf bases on branchlets. Seed cones ellipsoidal, up to 15 mm in length and 13 mm in breadth, on naked peduncles, and with persistent decussate scales. Staminate inflorescences with small pollen cones about 2—3 mm long, arranged suboppositely or alternately in axils of leafy bracts, which are about 2—3 mm long.
