Diagnosis
Phylloclades amphistomatic. Stomata on the both surfaces assembled in bands, that sometimes indistinct. Stomata rare, no forming rows, oriented longitudinally or obliquely, more seldom transverse. Cells of the nonstomatal bands usually elongated, rectangular or oblique-angled. Cells of the stomatal bands elongated or isodiametric, tetragonal or polygonal. Anticlinal cell walls straight, cells angles slightly rounded. Most of the cells with one to four fl attened papillae, sometimes united in cuticular ridge. Stomata monocyclic to incompletely amphicyclic. Subsidiary cells 4—5(6), two of them polar and 2—3(4) lateral cells. Inner anticlinal walls of the subsidiary cells often thickened forming a cuticular rim around the stomatal pit. Guard cells narrow, rectangular or wing-like.
