- Cupules cuplike, approximately 9–11 mm long and 3–5 mm wide. Basal cupule dichotomy forming two more-or-less equal halves, distally dividing a further three times to produce 16 terminal lobes. Ultimate cupule dichotomy in same plane as penultimate dichotomy. Ultimate cupule segments terete, elongate, inwardly curved. Individual cupule with at least one preovule borne on inner surface of cupule near second cupule dichotomy. Preovules 1.8–3.1 mm long and 1.1–1.8 mm wide, asymmetric in outline and with distal constriction. Integument glabrous, basally entire, forming ca. 4 short, wide preintegumentary lobes in distal ca. 10%of preovule length.
