- Diagnosis
- Plant consisting of a stem bearing lateral organs following a 1/3 organotaxy. Stem with a mesarch protostele consisting of three ribs. Ribs undivided or divided once. When divided, each primary rib divides into two secondary ribs. In both cases, the distal most part of the ribs divides into two tips. Numerous protoxylem strands present, including one in central position and others arranged along midplanes of ribs. Protoxylem strands showing a core of parenchyma cells surrounded by protoxylem tracheids. Primary xylem surrounded by a layer of smaller metaxylem tracheids. Secondary ribs showing asymmetrical tips, the internal tip is larger than the external tip. Lateral organs of the stems with primary and secondary ribs supplied by two pairs of traces, each including one T-shaped and one reniform-shaped vascular trace. Vascular traces of the stems without divided ribs, paired and reniform-shaped. Inner cortex of the lateral organs parenchymatous and outer cortex of the sparganum type.
