- Wood with indistinct growth rings, diffuse-porous. Vessels solitary and in radial
multiples, usually of 2–4; perforations simple; intervessel pits alternate; vessel-ray pits
with much-reduced borders to apparently simple; parenchyma vasicentric to lozengealiform
and/or confluent; rays nonstoried, multiseriate rays, heterocellular; uniseriate
rays rare to absent, laticifers present; sheath cells common. Fibers nonseptate, thin- to
thick-walled.
